Nafa Quick Response to Covid 19 disbursement of $10,000 to 30 Districts starts today

To mark the launching of the Nafa Quick Response to Covid 19 Project - the National Nutrition Agency (NaNA) will today – 21 July 2020 start the disbursement of $10,000 Fund to 30 Districts, starting from the Foni Districts in the West Coast Region, to all Districts in Lower River Region (LRR), North Bank Region (NBR) Central River Region (CRR) and Upper River Region respectively. This news was disclosed to journalist during a press briefing held at the NaNA Conference on Monday – 20 July 2020. Chairing the press briefing, Dr Amat Bah Deputy Executive Director of NaNA said Nafa is a Government program providing cash transfer and behavioural change activities to poor households in 30 Districts in The Gambia in response to Covid-19 pandemic. Dr Bah among others said said the objectives of NaNA is to improve household’s health, nutritions, early childhood development, adolescence, parenting and family planning, and prevent gender-based violence. On 8 July 2020, The Gambia Covid 19 Frontline Health Workers, comprising Staff working under the Covid 19 Rapid Response Team, Contact Tracing, Laboratory Services and the Quarantine Centre convened a Press Briefing at the Central Medical Stores, calling on the Senior Management of the Gambia's Ministry of Health to consider their plights, without which they will convene a meeting on 9 July 2020, to decide strike action. The Health Staff are demanding for daily allowances, of D750 to be paid, dating back from January 2020 when the Covid 19 Campaign started. They also among others are asking for their Health Insurance, accommodation and allowances to be paid by their line Ministry. In his remarks - Seyfo Singhatey, Covid 19 Response Team Member said among others that Health Insurance, Feeding and Accommodation and allowances are major concerns to their teams..
