Meet 30 Rule of Law Changemakers, Finalists for the World Justice Challenge 2021

The World Justice Challenge 2021: Advancing the Rule of Law in a Time of Crisis is a global competition to identify, recognize, and promote good practices and high-impact projects and policies that protect and advance the rule of law in the face of an unprecedented worldwide pandemic. This year, WJP and its thematic partners have selected 30 finalists from a pool of 425 submissions from 114 countries. These projects were chosen for their demonstrated impact in advancing the rule of law in four thematic areas affected by the COVID-19 pandemic: access to justice for all, accountable governance, fundamental rights and non-discrimination, and anti-corruption and open government. An additional ten projects were chosen as Honorable Mentions. Congratulations to all of them! VIEW FINALISTS A panel of expert judges will select five winning organizations from the pool of 30 finalists, including one for each theme. A sixth winner will be selected from the finalists through a popular vote by WJP's global rule of law network. Winners will be announced the week of May 24. Each of the six winning organizations will receive a $20,000 cash prize and opportunities for networking support from the World Justice Project throughout the year. Announcing the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Legacy Prize The World Justice Project is delighted to announce today—on International Women’s Day— that one of the World Justice Challenge prizes will honor the legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an inspiration to changemakers the world over. The WJP's first-ever Ruth Bader Ginsburg Legacy Prize will go to the Challenge finalist project that best exemplifies the fight against inequality and gender-based discrimination. The Ruth Bader Ginsburg Legacy Prize honors former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg's lifelong work in service to the causes of justice, equality, and the rule of law, and in recognition of her tremendous inspiration to WJP's mission and work. Justice Ginsburg served as an Honorary Chair of the World Justice Project from its founding and attended three of its global World Justice Forums, including keynote talks in 2013 and 2017.
