Tanji Drivers in Limbo due to lack of car park/ garage

Taxi Drivers in Tanji, Kombo South District are without garage, using the main fish market junction from the Highway along the road into the Village, and along the Highway to Sanyang as Garage, for vehicles plying to into main Tanji, Madiana, and and Sanyang respectively. This results in congestion along the highway, making traffic along the roads difficult. As a result residents in Taf Estate in Tanji and suburbs have been complaining about the situation leading to congested traffic. However the situation got worse during President Adama Barrow's last Monday meeting in Tanji, as part of President's Meet the Peoples' Tour, mandated by The Gambian Constitution. The Taskfroce clearing stalls around the roadsides and market areas ordered drivers plying into the Town and Madiana to move further down about 50 metres from the main junction, around Taf Estate gate.   Gambian Artisanal Fishermen are accusing Foreign Fishing Trawlers of illegal over-exploitation of fisheries resources, destruction of their fishing nets, calling The Gambia Government to stop  ongoing illegal fishing activities  in the country Mr Arfang Jabbi an Artisanal Fishermen in Tanji is calling on The Gambia Government to apply the fisheries regulations laws, to safeguard the country's fishing industry from the ongoing illegal over exploitation by foreign fishing Trawlers, who bent on fishing in restricted zones around Fajara and Tanji areas, as well destroying fishing nets of Artisanal Fishermen during night fishing in their restricted areas. WJP's global glance at Rule of Law Practice around the world ranks The Gambia 9th in Sub-saharan Africa

Gambia ranked 9th most adherent to rule of law in Sub-Saharan Africa Gambia is ranked 85th out of 142 countries in adherence to rule of law, according to the latest global Rule of Law Index released by the World Justice Project (WJP). The 2023 index released on Wednesday in Washington DC, United States, also showed that out of the 34 countries ranked in the sub-Saharan region, The Gambia is rated 9th. - According to the WJP report, countries were judged on eight indicators, namely constraints on government powers, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, order and security, regulatory enforcement, civil justice and criminal justice. The report noted that Gambia’s score increased by 3 points.
