Awa Camara authored a Book Titled: "The Dream Chaser," about 2 years ago, but has since been looking for sponsors to publish, without success.

"The book narrate fiction story about a young girl name - Sunkara, who was born in an isolated village in Basse, in the Upper River Region, far East of The Gambia, over 300 Kilometres from the Capital- Banjul, in a society where educating a girl child was considered a waste. But this maiden from a poor background deemed it necessary to be educated so she could be an agent of change. The girl decided to leave her village to the Kombos to stay with an aunt, to enable her to be educated....," Ms Camara explains.

Young Author- Camara was born in Basse, from a Patriarchal society where girls' education were given less privilege.  She attended Sky Blue nursery,  then proceeded to St. Therese Lower Basic School, for her Primary Schooling, then to Mingdaw Upper Basic School. She is currently attending Masroor Senior Secondary School in Old Yundum, Kombo North District West Coast Region of The Gambia in the Greater Banjul Areas, less than 30 Kilometres from the Capital-Banjul, studying Pure Science.

"It is always my dream to change the narrative as a young author," she said.
Adding: "I wrote the book when I was 13 and now am 15, but publishing it will be one of my biggest dreams.
"I want to launch the book by December, but to print 300 copies costing D60,000 is my biggest challenge," she said, while appealing for sponsorship from donors, philanthropists, Government, NGOs, Embassies, and all willing hands to help her publish the book. She pointed out that the aim of the book is "to end that culture [of suppressing girls' education] and embrace education."
"I wrote it like my own story as I was born in Basse where many girls were not given privilege to go to school so I was among the lucky ones," she said.
