The Gambian News Brief: A Ring Leader of the July 1994 Junta has been reportedly arrested

Yankuba Touray, one of Ring Leaders of the 22 July 1994 Coup, which overthrew Sir Dawa Kairaba Jawara's Democratically elected Government has been arrested by special members of the Gambia Police Force.
Mr. Touray, one of  the five junta members leaders that toppled the PPP's 30 years Government stand accused of being involved in number of torture sessions, ordering for torture and killings of many Gambians during the AFPRC/APRC Government's 22 years rule. 

Abubacarr Saidykhan a Gambian journalist report in his Facebook page that: "Touray has been recently accused of making a serious interference with the proceedings of the TRRC, which is considered in legal terms as 'Sub-Judicial.' 
Alhagie Kanyi, a vulnerable Gambian soldier who regrettably confessed at the ongoing Truth and Reconciliation Commission that he has been used to kill many young Gambian brains in the military, indicated that he was used to specialized in the killing of many of our young soldiers and civilians during the take over of the 1994 coup.

CRS Trains Enumerators for Gender and Disability Audit in Inclusive Education Project

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has begun training enumerators as part of its new project, “Disability Inclusive Pathways: Empowering Children with Disabilities Through Education, Technology and Play”. The training focuses on equipping data collectors to conduct a comprehensive Gender and Disability Audit and baseline survey in schools. CRS said the audit is a multidimensional, structured, and participatory assessment that measures how institutions address gender equality and disability inclusion in policies, programs, budgets, and practices. The exercise will help identify gaps, document good practices, and generate recommendations to improve inclusivity in The Gambia’s education system. The audit will assess issues such as gender-sensitive teaching methods, school infrastructure, physical accessibility, use of assistive devices, and attitudes toward people with disabilities.
