VDF gave additional 3,689 Bags of Sugar, others to orgs, institutions, political parties, Christian Council, others

Vision Development Foundation yesterday, Tuesday handed over 3,689 bags of sugar in 10 Kilos as part of their annual Ramadan Gifts donations to needy communities in The Gambia, conducted in an exemplary leadership style coordinated by Momodou Turo Darboe- VDF CEO, who is leading by example in supporting Muslims during Ramadan as required by Islam.
Last Tuesday donation also included various political parties in The Gambia.
Mr Saihou Fofana - VDF PRO among others said they invited politicians not because they are politicking, but because they know politicians also have followers that will need support during Ramadan. And they invited all the political parties to avoid discriminations.
Communities and disabled people organisation, were among Tuesday's beneficiaries.

Mr. Saihou Fofana, Vision Development Foundation (VDF) Communication Directors in his welcoming remarks highlighted the Foundation's annual tradition of distributing sugar during Ramadan to support underprivileged communities. Adding that this initiative is led by VDF's Chief Executive Officer - Momodou Turo Darboe, and aims to reach people who cannot afford sugar during the fasting period. He further said VDF invites representatives from political parties, community organisations, and other groups to collect and distribute the sugar to their respective communities due to logistical challenges in reaching remote areas.
He said VDF set to distribute 3,689 bags of sugar (10 kilos each) to various communities and organisations, including Christian communities observing fasting. Beneficiaries included villages like Kani kunda Sanjal, Pachar Kambeng Kafo, Abuko Abataur- Alhagie, Kotu Kuwareh Ward, Touray Kunda, Suba- Brikama Ward, Kembujeh Ward, Nyambai Ward, Mandinary, Yuna,Sanchaba,Jamburr and Jabang; Political parties namely: NPP, UDP, GDC, PPP, GDPD, APRC, APRC No to Alliance, GFA, PDOIS, NRP; as well organisations, communities and institutions such as TANGO, NGO Affairs, Disabled People Organisation, Mandinary Police Station, Busumbala Nyokanu Kafo, Galoya, Brufut, TANGO,and security services. Gambia Pastoral Institute, National Assembly Staff, Christian Council (who are also in Fasting), Tujereng, Security Services 24 hours, Murids, .
and religious groups. Mr. Fofana emphasized the importance of ensuring that the donated sugar reaches its intended beneficiaries.
An imam at the event praised Mr. Darboe's humanitarian efforts, noting that Islam encourages building relationships between the wealthy and the poor by sharing resources. He stressed that acts of charity strengthen community bonds and prayed for prosperity for the donors and collaborators.

For his part United Democratic Party (UDP)political Party representative Mr Karafa Sonko thanked VDF for their efforts in helping the Muslim population, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
He also noted that the coming together of all political parties demonstrates unity among Gambians. “The VDF could have called only one or two political parties to benefit from this gesture, but they instead promoted inclusivity, which is commendable,” Mr Sonko said.
Lamin Saho- a representating the National People’s Party (NPP), expressed appreciation for Foundation’s generosity and promised to distribute the sugar to underprivileged communities within Kanifing Municipality and beyond.
Honorable Samba Jallow- National Assembly Member for Niamina Dankunkung- representing the National Reconciliation Party (NRP) expressed his delight and recalled that a similar donation was made to all provincial National Assembly members. “Bringing all political parties together this time was a welcome initiative,” he said.
Ismaila Jallow- Councilor for Suba Ward and deputy chairperson of Brikama Area Council said the gesture would go a long way in helping vulnerable individuals across the region. “We receive many requests from our people for sugar, rice, and oil, and this gesture from VDF came at the right time,” he stated.
Meanwhile community members also assembled to receive dates, sugar, bread, tea and milk for their daily Ramadan fast breaking, which is done every day throughout the Ramadan
