@ VDF Day 5 of Ramadan Sugar Gifts Presentation- 4638 Bags of Sugar in 10 kilos donated to beneficiaries:

(VDF) Ramadan Gifts for needy communities and institutions held every Wednesday and Friday, at the Foundation's Branch Office in Churchill's Town since the beginning of the Ramadan. Mr Saihou Fofana VDF PRO in his welcoming remarks on behalf of Momodou Turo Darboe- VDF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said as usual 4638 bags of sugar in 10 kilos will be given out to needy communities, institutions and individuals. He said this time about 20 National Assembly Members, 21 Communities, totalling to about 41 Receipients will be given Ramadan Sugar Gifts, ranging from 50, 100, 150 to 200 bags respectively.However 25 National Assembly Members turned up for the distribution according to admin sources. Mr Fofana after thanking Allah, said "today mark the fifth day of Ramadan Sugar Gifts to needy communities and institutions, in which our National Assembly Members and Village community representatives from various parts of The Gambia are invited to receive the gifts. "This has been onging since the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and we will continue such gestures until the end of Ramadan," he said. He urged those who receive the Ramadan Sugar Gifts to give it to those who need it most, adding that people's conditions are not equal. "Some can afford sugar, others cannot. So this donation is meant for those underprivileged who cannot afford sugar during Ramadan.
"The objective of this gesture is we want to put smiles in the faces of those who cannot afford sugar during Holly Month of Ramadan. Our able leader Mr Momodou Turo Darboe use to say that this gesture is meant for those who cannot afford it. We urge those receiving the sugar to give it to the underprivileged," Mr Fofana said. He thank the media for patronising VDF in their presentations.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow National Assembly Members Hon. Samba Jallow,National Assembly Member for Niamina Dankunku said they are invited by VDF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Momodou Turo Darboe to recieve on behalf of the entire Constituencies of Central River Region and Upper River Region, consisting 10 Constituencies in every region, adding: "each constituency will be given 100 bags of sugar of 10 Kilos," which values at "D972,000." He described the gesture as best, "because we are in Ramadan and most of the communities are in need of sugar, which many cannot afford." Hon. Kemo Gassama, Member for Lower Badibou in North Bank Region said they are invited to receive Ramadan Gifts from a Gambian philanthropist by the name Momodou Turo Darboe. "This donation will go a long way in helping the needy, not only in their constutuencies, but the enire Gambia," he said. He prayed for Mr Darboe's long life, good health and prosperity to maintain this initiative
Alhagie Mam Essa Darboe President Gambia Supreme Islamic Council thank Allah for enabling them benefit from Momodou Turo Darboe every year on behalf of the Supreme Islamic Council. "This year also we are having similar gesture from Mr Turo Darboe," he said, and further thanked Allah for such opportunities. "On behalf of Supreme Islamic Council, Scholars and Gambian Muslims we are thanking VDF under the leadership of Momodou Turo Darboe for the gestures. We are thanking them for supporting especially the poor and needy people. All of us do witness the support of Momodou Turo Darboe during this Holly Month of Ramadan, which is a blessed month. It's a month of showing mercy. Mr Darboe is one of those who knows what to do during this Holly Month, and we are thanking him, and praying for Allah to give him good health," he said. He called on other workers and business communities who are well to do to emulate Mr Darboe. He finally prayed for Allah to reward VDF and Mr Turo Darboe with blessings for all their good will gestures to the needy. He prayed for Mr Darboe's good health.
Mr Eliman Jah one of the recipient communities representatives from Daru Rirwan in Badibu, North Bank Region expressed delight for the gestures, and prayed for Mr Darboe's long life and good health. He added that many people have resources, but are not doing what Mr Darboe is doing, and therefore prayed for Mr Daboe to have peace, shared by all and sundry.
Meanwhile many needy community members gathered to receive dates, sugar, bread, tea, milk and cash for their daily Ramadan Fast Breaking
