The meeting, organised with support from UNDP, brought together members of the Technical Working Group and key stakeholders to review project achievements for the third quarter and outline upcoming activities for Q4 2025. “Our collective presence here reflects a shared commitment to building a sustainable peace infrastructure in The Gambia,” Gassama said. He commended UNDP and the UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) for their continued partnership and highlighted progress on implementing Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) recommendations. According to Mr. Gassama, the Peace and Reconciliation Bill has been finalized and submitted to Cabinet for approval — a key step towards establishing the Peace and Reconciliation Commission (PRC). He also revealed that UNDP is supporting the Ministry in setting up a Peacebuilding Unit to coordinate future peace efforts, despite administrative challenges being addressed jointly by the Ministry and I4P project management. “Without a robust, inclusive, and empowered peace infrastructure, our gains in democracy and development remain fragile,” he cautioned. Mr. Gassama concluded by reaffirming the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to consolidating sustainable peace and democratic governance across The Gambia
